From cappuccinos to breakthroughs: Meet two of our Health Coaches

What do a morning cappuccino, a mindset shift, and a phone call have in common? They’re all part of the magic that happens when you’re supported by a My health for life Health Coach.

Behind every coaching session is a passionate health professional who’s not just talking about health – they’re living it, breathing it, and helping others transform their lives one small step at a time.

We’re pulling back the curtain to introduce you to two of these incredible coaches: Kate and Elizabeth. Their stories are full of warmth, wisdom, and a whole lot of real-life inspiration.

Why health coaching?

For both Kate and Elizabeth, becoming a Health Coach wasn’t just a job, it was a calling rooted in personal experience and professional insight.

Kate’s journey began with her own health transformation. She discovered how small, simple changes could make a big difference, and she wanted to help others do the same.

“I love being able to support people in building confidence, creating healthy habits that actually last, and finding their own unique way to feel healthier and happier.”

Elizabeth’s path was shaped by her background in dietetics. While studying and working with clients, she realised that knowledge alone wasn’t enough. Lasting change comes from addressing behaviours, mindset, and lifestyle.

“I was inspired by seeing how small, constant changes could transform lives. Becoming a Health Coach allows me to combine my expertise in nutrition with coaching skills to empower clients.”

Coaching, connection and a sprinkle of compassion

Kate’s day starts with a cappuccino (a non-negotiable!), a balanced breakfast, and the school drop-off routine. Then it’s time for movement. She enjoys walking her dogs or lifting weights to set the tone for the day.

Once she’s at work, it’s all about connection. She checks her emails, reviews participant notes, and dives into six or seven coaching calls—each one tailored to the person on the other end of the line.

“I prepare by reading each participant’s progress notes so I can show up fully present, guided by their needs in the moment.”

Elizabeth’s day is equally focused and intentional. She starts by reviewing participant notes and preparing personalised session plans. Her day is filled with one-on-one phone coaching, nutrition education and goal setting.

“Between sessions, I document progress, adjust plans, and collaborate with other health professionals to ensure a holistic approach.”

Both coaches dedicate time to professional development, refining their skills so they can offer the best support possible.

Breakthrough moments and mindset shifts

Ask any My health for life coach and they’ll tell you the real magic happens when a participant has a breakthrough.

For Kate, it’s when someone realises that setbacks are normal and don’t mean failure.

“Instead of waiting for ‘Monday’ to start over, they begin to realise that every meal and every day is a new opportunity. You can reset at the next bite, the next choice, the next moment.”

Elizabeth recalls a powerful moment with a participant who embraced the 80/20 rule—allowing herself to enjoy favourite foods while staying consistent most of the time.

“That simple shift transformed her mindset. She achieved her health goals with less stress and more joy.”

These moments aren’t just wins—they’re turning points that lead to lasting change.

Words that stick

For Kate and Elizabeth, the most rewarding part of coaching isn’t just seeing progress, it’s hearing how that progress feels.

Kate remembers a participant who shared something that stuck with her: “This program was life-changing for me! I gained confidence, energy and a completely new mindset.”

Kate says, “It wasn’t just about losing weight or ticking boxes—it was about feeling empowered, capable, and finally at peace with her health journey.”

Moments like this are the heartbeat of coaching. They’re reminders that real change doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from progress, self-compassion, and learning to feel good in your own skin.

Staying motivated

Health coaches aren’t immune to life’s ups and downs. However, they’ve got tools to stay grounded.

Kate prioritises sleep (eight hours a night), daily movement, and strength training. She also makes time for joy and downtime, guided by her values and her role as a mum.

“Self-care isn’t selfish. I focus on showing up, making healthy choices most of the time, and practising self-compassion on the days I don’t.”

Elizabeth finds motivation in her clients’ resilience.

“Their journeys remind me that challenges can be faced and overcome. Their progress inspires me to prioritise my own health so I can show up as my best self.”

For both coaches, health is a lifestyle—not a checklist.

Myth-busting: What health coaching really is

Let’s bust a big myth. Health coaching isn’t about giving strict plans or telling people what to do.

Kate says, “Health coaching is about collaboration. We empower you to uncover your own motivations, overcome barriers, and create sustainable lifestyle changes tailored to your unique needs.”

Elizabeth agrees, “It’s a collaborative process focused on empowering people to create sustainable change—not perfection or quick fixes.”

It’s about building confidence, overcoming challenges and making changes that fit your life.

Kate believes that “every day that ends in ‘Y’ is the right day to get back on track.”
