How My health for life has given Imelda a whole new lease on life.
Imelda is living proof that it’s never too late to feel your best. After years of living with chronic pain and facing an upcoming hip replacement, she knew she needed to make a change. She took the opportunity to try the My health for life initiative and got a lot more than she expected. It provided her with the support and structure she needed, alongside a Health Coach who helped her regain her confidence.
“I can’t say enough about how wonderful Megan was,” Imelda says. “She was patient, kind and encouraging. Every session gave me something new to think about. She helped me stay focused and reminded me that I was capable of more than I realised.”
Imelda hadn’t been active for quite some time. The constant pain had made exercise difficult, and staying motivated felt nearly impossible. But with each coaching session, she found a renewed sense of possibility. My health for life helped her get back to gentle exercise, starting with short strolls, which gradually built up. “I started walking every day, even when it wasn’t easy. And I actually looked forward to it.”
As her strength and stamina improved, so did her outlook. “The sessions didn’t just focus on diet or exercise, they covered how we think about our health, how we deal with stress, how we plan for change. It all connected.”
Her work with Megan helped her prepare physically and mentally for her surgery. “I went into the operation in a much better frame of mind and much stronger than I would’ve been otherwise,” she says. “I truly believe it made all the difference.”
Imelda’s recovery was smooth, just two nights in hospital, and now she’s enjoying life mostly pain-free. “It’s hard to explain the difference,” she says. “I can move again; I can enjoy the little things again. That sense of freedom is incredible.”
She keeps her health coaching workbooks close by as reminders of how far she’s come. “They’re always within reach. It helps keep me on track, but more than that, they remind me that I did something important, something for myself.”
Now, she’s looking ahead. She’s kept up her daily walking and is even thinking about joining her local Pickleball club. “I feel like I’ve got energy again,” she says. “It’s not just about physical health; it’s my whole life. I’m more confident, more positive. Life feels full.”
Imelda says My health for life was a turning point, and she’s even open to doing it again. “If I ever feel like I need a reset, I know where to turn,” she says. “This program gave me back my life.”
She feels the initiative could benefit so many people who just need that bit of guidance to help them get on track. “If you’re in pain or feeling stuck, please just try it. You don’t have to do it alone, there are people who genuinely want to help. And it might just change your life like it did mine.”
Looking back, Imelda says one of the greatest gifts of the initiative was rediscovering her own strength. “This journey taught me that I’m resilient. Even during tough times, the pain, the surgery, moving house, personal stress, I kept going. And now I feel stronger than ever.”
