gnocchi bolognese

ingredients
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 brown onion, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 stalk celery, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 250g beef mince
- 250g pork mince
- 1.5 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
- ½ cup milk
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp castor sugar
- 500g gnocchi
- Freshly grated parmigiano reggiano, to serve
method
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium to high heat. Add diced onion, carrot and celery and sauté until soft and translucent. Add garlic and oregano and sauté for a further two minutes.
- Make a space in the centre of the pot and add pork and beef mince. Cook until brown. Add tomato paste and stir through. Cook off for 2-3 minutes.
- Add diced tomatoes, milk, salt, pepper and sugar and stir well. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
- Cook gnocchi according to packet instructions. To serve, divide gnocchi among four bowls. Top with a scoop of Bolognese sauce and sprinkle with cheese.
